The empire was briefly re-united under the strong ruler Jin Wudi (emperors should be prefixed with the dynastic name to give the full name as there were several Emperors called 'Wudi') At this time the first accurate grid based maps were produced. After rivalry amongst members of the ruling family the Empire of the North was overthrown by Northern non-Han tribes and the capital Changan was sacked.
