SACU Council is hoping to arrange a number of major events each year. They will include the successful Frodsham family gathering and a Christmas or winter activity. They will be held in different parts of the country so everyone has the opportunity to attend. Events will enable SACU members to enjoy Chinese entertainment, a cultural display or an exhibition in the company of like-minded people. They will be good opportunities for SACU members to meet other members, especially their neighbours and also members of the Chinese community. As mentioned in Welcome on page three, if any SACU member has any suggestions for events or any other comments please contact any Council member.
You can also contribute to China Eye either by writing articles or putting the editor in contact with somebody who can. Articles are welcomed on any aspect of China, especially if it contributes to Anglo-Chinese Understanding. A guidelines for contributors leaflet has been prepared and will be sent or e-mailed to anyone on request. You can also help by letting us know of any events, theatre, performances or meetings in your area, which may be of interest to SACU members. Please contact the China Eye editor and remember to include all details of dates, opening times, entry charge, location and contact numbers. Recently some members have sent in a number of articles which need to be typed in Word (for e mailing or on to a floppy disc) for easy inclusion into the China Eye manuscript. If you can help by typing in Word please contact the China Eye Editor.
With its disciplined approach and yet very versatile possibilities, Chinese brush painting holds exciting potential for many artists and budding artists. Success depends on having the right equipment and a willingness to learn the fundamental brushstrokes and basic techniques such as holding the brush in the correct way.
We meet at the memorial hall in Pool-in-Wharfedale.
