Venerable Calligraphy Teacher

90 year-old teacher of calligraphy Lu Fu at a school for the aged in Shanghai (1986).

Calligraphy is a highly regarded artform and is practised by most of the population. The drawing of the characters follows a set series of rules on the order and shape of each stroke but this still leaves scope for a great deal of individuality.

The works of master calligraphers is highly prized.
