Quxu Bridge

The Quxu (Chushul) Bridge, the first bridge to span the Yarlung Zangbo River linking Lhasa and Loka, Shigatse in Xizang Autonomous Province (Tibet). The magnificent Quxu Bridge is an important gateway from Lhasa to the Shannan area as it links east and west Tibet. Quxu means "water stream" in Tibetan. The photograph shows the opening ceremony in 1974.
